Home care services provide a range of services that help old people live independently within their homes. It may include getting help with shopping and cooking, receiving personal care to bath, dress, and get in and out of bed or getting modifications to improve their safety and movement around the house.

It can be entry-level care under the Commonwealth Home Support Programm (CHSP) to help those who need a low level of support to keep living independently and is usually recommended to those who need a small amount of ongoing or short term services.

Home Care Package

It also can be under Home Care Package (HCP) for those with greater or more complex care needs who need many cares and support services on an ongoing basis beyond the CHSP. This will provide a package of care and services and go beyond what the CHSP can provide. There are four levels of care that can be assigned to senior people:

Level 1: Basic assistance – Help with tasks such as cleaning, grooming, meals, shopping, and transport. Usually one or two visits a week.
Level 2: Low care needs – The same as Level 1, but can be three or four visits a week from an aged care worker.
Level 3: Intermediate care – More support at home, most days of the week. It can include visits from a care worker, nurse, and medical staff.
Level 4: High-level care – For high-level or complex care needs, that can include daily visits.

What You Can Earn

The Australian government has introduced an increase of the Home Care packages to 185597 packages in 2020-2021 with a total investment of 1.9 billion dollars. The government subsidises a range of aged care homes in Australia. The subsidies are paid directly to you. Depending on the level of services, you can earn up to $52000 approximately per person per year. The details are listed below:

CHSP services delivered to a client should be lower than the subsidised cost of a Level 1 HCP (less than $8,000 per year).
Home Care Package (HCP): approximately $9,000, $15,750, $34,250, and $52,000 a year for Level 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively.

not have any disqualified individuals as key personnel,
have experience providing aged care or other relevant forms of care,
Have qualified team such as registered nurses, chartered accountants, etc. as required,
