The NDIS provides about 460,000 Australians under the age of 65 with funding for the reasonable and necessary support they need to live an ordinary life. The scheme provides individualised support packages to eligible participants, based on their specific needs and goals. This support may include funding for assistive technology, equipment, therapy, and personal care services.
The NDIS was introduced in 2013 and replaced the previous frameworks in Australia. Arrangements for the full scheme rollout of the NDIS have been reached with most state and territory governments.
